  1. St.Matthew 4th graders will have to connect with the Duvall kids. We can share what we are learning. Next week, St. Matt 4th graders are going to finish their "All Things Iditarod" project and create a large map of Alaska detailing the trail and stops. They are truly excited about this project!!

  4. It's so nice to know there are fellow musher-followers in Washington state! We're excited to be part of a larger group!

Our small group only gets to meet for an hour each morning before school starts, and unfortunately it isn't "all" Iditarod curriculum. We began with the story of Balto and then went on to learn what really happened to him. We then did a "scavenger hunt" to learn about the history of the Iditarod and learn about the website. We've learned about military time so we will understand when our mushers arrive and leave the checkpoints. We have been studying charts, the map, learning vocabulary words, reading the musher's mini biographies-all to select a musher and support our decision. We've learned a lot and are SO excited for the start of the race and so grateful to Jan for her response. We were SO surprised as we've been talking about how busy all the mushers must be right now!!!! Thanks Jan!
