Training Run

Back up to Alaska for two weeks and so excited to be back with the team.  Can't wait to get on the trail.  Still seeing a Physical Therapist in Washington and Alaska (depending on where I happen to be) "First Choice Physical Therapy" and "Seattle Center for Structural Medicine" are awesome.    Working toward a full recovery of my injuries from last year.  Right now I am spending 80% of my day in a walking boot.  Trying to stay off my feet as much as I can...nearly impossible when in Alaska.

What my boot cast looks like doing chores out in the kennel and running a team.
Proud owner of two boots.  One for kennel work and one to wear inside the house and to town.

This was my third run with the dogs.  We just arrived
back to the kennel.  Watering the team.

Alaska Here I Come !

Thanks Cindy Klettke for driving me to the SeaTac airport at 2 am !  You saved the day !

Shuttle Express, you really let me down.  I spent hours on hold, trying to book a shuttle ride to the airport...never could get through and I ended up having to cancel my flight  Rescheduling for the next day, I thought that I would have no problem arranging a shuttle ride, calling first thing in the morning.

Well, so much for that assumption, I again could not get through to them on the phone. Also could not book a ride on their website.  I kept trying throughout the day, and here I was again at 9:30 with no ride.  A quick phone call to Cindy at work, took away my anxiety.  She would be off work at midnight and home by 1:15. (She commutes to work by bicycle...rain or shine and light or dark.) She was more than willing to drive me to the airport and I was thrilled.  Arriving 2:15 gave me plenty of time to check in for my flight.  Actually, I arrived too early to check in and drop off my bags, so I rented a cart and Searched out my secret bathroom that has a full length bench in it.  This is the second time that I have had a great sleep while waiting to check in for a flight.

My secret airport sleeping place.

Bob arrived with the dog truck and my welcoming committee...Buzz and Yen.  Yen was one happy girl.  Buzzer Boy just goes with the flow.  He is quite the old timer now.

Northern Lights

I just couldn't resist sharing the Northern Lights from Denali Park.  They are so beautiful.  I will never forget the first Northern Lights that I ever saw.  I saw them when I was in Ruby, volunteering for Iditarod 2008.  They were absolutely gorgeous.  Some children were out there 1 am whistling to the lights.  I was told that they believed that if they whistled, the lights would dance.  I tell you, dance they did.  They were spiraling in beautiful colors of green and purple.

Bingo With Dad

While I am in Washington, I try to spend as much time as I can with my father.  My friend Marilyne and I decided to kidnap him for an evening of Bingo.  He did fabulous.  This was not your Senior Center Bingo.  The pace was really quite fast.  Way to go Dad !

School Visit Confirmed...

Just got off the phone with Mrs. Johnson, one of my many favorite teachers that I have visited over the years, who use the study of Iditarod in their classrooms.    We confirmed my October 7th visit.  I have the honor of kicking off their all school Idita Read during their all school assembly.

My arrival is always welcomed...
