Well, same old routine in the morning...wonderful dogs to spend time with. Ran around in the morning taking care of bills and mail and made a quick stop to the espresso stand...Ahhhh....love it.

Well, we have decided to hire escorts on snowmachines to lead our teams out on the trail. We had our first escort out of the kennel today by Lev on a snowmachine. He is riding in front of our teams as we leave from the kennel through the moose gauntlet. I figure that it is the way that we can increase the probability of safety for the dogs and the mushers.

As it turned out, we had 3 moose on the trail. Two were rather aggressive and refused to leave the trail and looked as though they may charge the snowmachine. Shots fired and they changed their minds and moved on down the trail and then off the trail.

Well, once catch...I found out what my team does when shots are fired in front of them...They turn and run and then get all tangled up. Thankfully the moose took off cause it took what seemed like forever to untangle my dogs. Was definitely the worst tangle that I have ever encountered.

We saw another moose on the trail, but the snowmachine alone was all that we needed to get him off the trail.

We made it back to the kennel safely. Yeah!

Because of the excessive deep snow and the dangerous moose situation we are having to hire a handler to lead our teams out of the kennel and through the trails and clear moose off the trails. We are hoping through sponsorship, we can continue to hire an escort for our runs to keep the mushers and dogs safe on their training runs....you can sponsor a handler for any amount. Today's escort resulted in no moose stompings through the team.
