JAN LEAVING NENANA WITH THE SERUM Successful departure from Nenana about 11am on Sunday the 20th. Jan carried the Serum for the opening day and was first to leave Nenana. Arrived at Old Minto about 4pm with all dogs doing very well...second team to arrive in Minto. Conditions on the trail were blizzard with wind and snow, and the trail had deep snow. Spent the night in cabins with no electricity, but warm wood burning stoves. The residents of Old Minto were wonderful and served dinner of Moose Stew and fry bread, and then a breakfast of sausage, eggs, and pancakes.
Departed Old Minto at 11am. Again the weather was blizzard conditions with wind and snow and the trails were snow blown. Arrived safely in Tolovana and stayed at the Tolovana Road House that was warm. Cooking food in the lodge at the road house in pots of water. Tomorrow, will leave for Manley and the Manley Hot Springs and have a day layover scheduled in Manley (but forgot the swim suit for the hot baths). The finger with stitches is doing well with no signs of infection.
