From the Principal’s Office ...
Today we have some special guest reporters
from Mrs. Johnson’s third grade class who shared
a detailed report on yesterday’s special guest
presentation. See their article below ...
Dear Prairie Parents,
Today we had a special visitor to our school. Her name is Jan Steves. She is a musher from
Washington State. She has 18 dogs but they are in Alaska so today she brought a friend’s dog named
Birdie. Birdie is a Siberian husky and she was black, white and had pretty eyes. Some of the kids got
to pet her. This all started when our class read a story about sled dogs and the Iditarod. Mrs.
Johnson said this is just like a musher in Washington named Jan Steves. We started writing letters to
her and she wrote back and then Mrs. Johnson secretly invited her to come and she said, “yes”. She
showed us pictures of her sled dog team, and told us all about how to train them and take care of
them. She brought lots of musher equipment and dressed Mrs. Harrison up. She showed us the red
lantern that she got last year. You get this when you come in last place. It means you stuck in there.
We took lots of pictures and she came to our class and talked just to third grade for a long time and
answered lots of questions and told good stories. Then she
brought Birdie in again for us to see. It was exciting and fun to
meet her. I hope we will meet her again.Happy Friday,
Jaelynn and Kate
