EDMONDS 4TH OF JULY PARADE

With rain off and on all week we were wondering what we would do if it was a downpour on the 4th.  No problem, we were blessed with a beautiful day.  Armed with VIP seating passes for my Dad and Jackie, and passes to get through the baricades with our vehicles, we thought that we had it all in good order.  Ha !  Well, we got my father to his seating without much of a walk for him.  However, for us to get our vehicles closer to the start where we were supposed to be in about 10 minutes was just not going to happen.  I parked in the first available parking spot and we ran through the crowds.  We managed to get to 6th and Bell on time.  Whew!

We spotted our waiting ride...a vintage convertible Camaro.  All was good, however there was a drum corps right in front of it and as we approached Tok made a dive through a tall hedge.  He wanted no part of this.  I talked with the Mayor and asked if he could move the drummers.  With the drummers moved further away Tok was much happier. 

We had a great ride through the town waving to and greeting the parade goers.  Being the Grand Marshal was quite an honor.  Tok was a fabulous "Grand Dog" !

After the parade a mother and child came up and talked with me.  I had made a school visit to her class in June.  Pictures were taken and I pulled out a team postcard autographed by Tok (a blue paw print).  She had the biggest smile on her face and thought that was the coolest. 

Later in the day we had a great potluck gathering with friends and then we watched a spectacular hometown fireworks display.  A wonderful day.
